New trip - New blog

Monkey is off again - so let's make a plan

overcast 20 °C

So much to do, so little time to do it. Plane tickets all over the Americas, accommodation, transport, and things to do.

Here is a summary of the things I'm planning so far:

1. Roadtrip around the West and North of the US, starting in LA and finishing in NY

2. 43 day Intrepid tour through Central America from Mexico to Panama
3. Tickets to Track Cycling at the Rio Olympics

4. Roadtrip in an old Buick (or similar) around Cuba
5. Beaches, Salsa dancing, and delicious food in Jamaica

6. Volunteer in Haiti
7. Backpack through Columbia and Ecquador
8. Play with tortoises in the Galapogas Islands
9. Backpack through Peru to Bolivia and Argentina
10. Drive through Patagonia to Santiago
11. Fly home for Christmas

There is a lot to organise, and airfares are probably the hardest to understand. For example, a flight from Rio to Cuba seems to require a 20hr stopover in Bogata, and a flight from Jamaica to Haiti has a stopover in New York!

Unfortunately the timing of my travels means that I'm going to be camping in Yellowstone when there's still snow on the ground, and in Central American jungles in the height of summer, and I'll miss Independence Day in NY, but I've also managed to time things so that I can get to Rio for the Olympics which will be amazing.

But even all the stress of arranging a 9 month trip across the American continent whilst also buying a house, moving, and still working (remotely), hasn't blunted my enthusiasm. Exciting times ahead folks, so keep tuned for further updates.
